where to start!! a couple weeks ago on a nice hot sunday Jason and I went hiking at doughnut falls. its a pretty short hike and elevates about 500 ft, it was pretty nice. I am never very talkative or excited during hikes because, again, I am in it for the workout, not the scenery. So when we got to the end it was pretty cool! the water was too high from all the rain lately so we weren't able to cross the river and go up to the top, but the bottom of the fall was still cool.
I took zero pictures on the 4th of July. seriously, I suck. oh well. on the 4th we, hmm, I think we went to lunch with Jason's parents, and I can't remember what we did during the day but we cooked a brisket and ate dinner with Derek. It was SOOO delicious. I really think brisket may be my new favorite meat, except its so fatty. luckily all the fat is contained to one spot so its really easy to just cut it away. After dinner we walked over to Sugar House park, cause we live that close. :-) we met our friends there, Jordan and James. Played uno, talked and watched the fireworks. All in all it was a pretty good holiday, I could have done with some more sitting by the pool, but eh.

my husband is the sweetest cutest thing! the friday before the 4th he went golfing with his brother and I went to layton and hung out with my parents at their pool. around 6ish we both started heading home and Jason called me to tell me he had a suprise. AW! he is so fetching cute. so I got home and he told me I had to find my suprise, I went in to the bedroom and there were two big boxes on each side of the bed, he got me nighstands!!!
before we used a box on one side, and an old night stand on the other. I love them and him for being so wonderful. there is one of those on each side obviously. Jason and I are starting to buy new furniture slowly so that when we buy a house, we will actually have nice stuff to put in it. next is a dining room table set, a TV console and a dresser set. :-)

Jason finally cracked and told me where he is taking me for our anniversary! SAN DIEGO!! I am SOOOO excited. we went there on our honeymoon and I absolutely loved it! he booked a 4-star hotel and its so ritzy. I am so excited I can't wait. When we were there last time I wanted to go to the san diego temple, but the only day we could go was on a monday, so we just walked around, but this time we will do a session! YAY!

there really isn't much else to update ya on. Work is less stressful for Jason and more stressful for me, I guess there has to be a balance lol.

OH!! my coupon shopping!!! I learned how to do it. here are a few tips that I have found helpful.
1. you have to be willing to stock up. which is hard because in our apartment we dont have a ton of space, but so far it hasnt been an issue. 2. get the idea out of your mind that wal-mart is the cheapest, its not. well, sometimes it is, it just depends. 3. stop going to the store once a week to get the items you need for 7 dinners, even if they aren't on sale, thats bad. You will be going to the store about once a week doing couponing. 4. the way you do it, is you match sales with coupons. example. my Kashi go lean cereal is regularly 5$, if you bought ten, albertsons has each one for 2.49$, I had a 1.50 off coupon with makes it 1$, but albertsons also had a twice the value coupons in the paper for up to a dollar which means, it was FREE!! Had I not matched the sale with the coupon, I would have gotten the cereal for 3.50 with my coupon alone, compared to free. sweet huh? Jason and I order the sunday paper, just for the coupons and they have already paid for themselves for a year with how much we have saved. I have done it 3 times so far, once I got 90$ worth of food for 44$, 60$ worth of groceries for 12$ and 52$ worth of groceries for 10$ thats 196$ for 66$!!! I gotta tell, I am not complaining.

there ya go!!

persons

You know how everyone has PERSONS? A hair person, a nail person etc? Well let me tell you about my 2 favorite Persons.

My hair person.
This is Jami. My hair person. She is nothing short of FABULOUS! 3.5 years ago I made a huge mistake for a boy, and I died my beautiful long blonde hair, black. Yes I know, huge mistake. I went to a girl in our ward, and she pretty much ruined it more by bleaching it and dying it maroon, oh it was awful. Then, the best decision I have ever made in my hair life, I went to Jami. Jami has been my hair person ever since then and I strongly suggest she become your hair person too. MY favorite part about Jami is that she knows exactly what I DO want and what I DON'T want, despite what I say. Lets face it, we all have these moments where you think a drastic style change would be fun so you go the hair salon and say" dy it brown with red streaks then cut it in the shape of a heart." :-/ If I were ever to go to Jami and say that, she would listen and say, OK, but then I would walk out with my regular blonde highlights and trim, cause Jami knows I don't really want change. She is out of the town for the summer, and I feel lost :-(

This is Dr. McNeil and he is my dentist person. why is he my favorite you ask? well I will tell you. I hate the dentist, I just don't like foreign objects in my mouth let alone someone hands. To be honest, I hadn't been to the dentist since I got my wisdom teeth out, 2.5 years ago. I know, gross. But I just have this fear of the dentist. So I decided it was time to go, I went to some shmow of a dentist out in bountiful who told me I had several cavities and that he refused to work on me cause I was so figidity, he told me I needed to go to a sedation dentist. Insurance does not cover the sedation portion of a sedation dentist. crap. My mother in law works at an orthodontist office and knew of a sedation dentist in our area. Dr McNeil. So I made an appointment, and went to a consultation. Now, lets be honest, 90% of dentists are awkward people, they just are. He is no exception, he is kinda awkward, but so wonderful!! he was so nice and took the time to explain things and to know exactly what I hated about the dentist. Best part? the sedation portion, was free. He doesn't want to exploit patients that have trouble with the dentist, and he doesn't want to squeeze them for every penny. So he gave me the pills I would need to take before I came in. With sedation obviously someone has to drive you there and back too. I can honestly tell you, I don't remember much about the dentist, I remember I didn't feel any pain, and I watched TV on the ceiling lol. He filled all of my cavities that day, sent me home with more meds for pain as needed and I was on my way. 2 days later, my phone rings and its him!! the actual dentist himself was doing a follow up phone call. OMG. He is so awesome!

Without a shadow of a doubt I would highly recommend both of these people to you. They are both exceptionally wonderful at what they do and you can tell they care about your outcome.
Dr McNeil is in midvale, so he might be kinda far for some of you, and Jami is going to be in Layton when she comes back from her STUPID summer adventure ;-).

now for our weekly update.

Things are going fabulous. Work is great for both of us and life is fun. There is nothing really significent to report... I am taking vitamins for my hair, loaded with Biotin and other good stuff. I actually found a picture of my hair from Feb this year, and my hair has probably grown 4 inches since then so maybe it doesn't grown as slow as I thought. We will see! I have noticed that my hair seems to be more thick, which is great. Jason and I want to get a cat, but its like a total of 400$ for a deposit and only half is refundable, plus 25$ extra a month, so we are waiting to decide if that is worth it. Really Jason and I are just 2 boring people who are madly in love :-)

a post for documentation purposes

I need to document a few things, with photos of course.

This is my wheatgrass plant. :-) remember when I said I
wanted a house plant and I was going to grow one? here it is!

It started with seeds and dirt. :-) I had to soak the seeds in water for 3 days to get their little roots o
ut.
This is my little plant now!! from the top of course.
I really do love my plant. I have to cut it twice every week. its like my little baby.
This is documenting my hair length. I wanted to see how fast it will grow with how I am now taking care of it. So, here is the front.
And here is the BACK.

I also need to document a decision that was made today. My bestest friend Bequi and I...pictured here....
Decided to do a monthly temple night, with us. Going to the temple with your husband is much different then going with a friend. For starters she won't sit on the opposite side of the room from me! When you go with your spouse, you seem, well I, seem to focus more on us, and our marriage, then myself. Going with Bequi I will be able to focus and reflect on myself. I need to document this in case we slack off. :-) So excited!

Documentation, complete.

Weekly update.

I have decided to just do weekly updates on blog to keep from my blog getting boring with the whole day to day boringness some bloggers blog about. :-)

So here is our weekly update.

We moved into our new apartment a few weeks ago, and have just barely almost got everything unpacked and put in its place. We really do love it. Its such a quiet complex, in such a fun busy area. When you are in our complex, somehow you can't hear anything, any city noise, traffic or anything. From our apartment the only thing you really hear is the other neighbors, but since our apartment complex is more pricey and is mostly business people, you never hear them. There are no pigeons, no dogs and almost no kids. Just lots of couples and business people.

We went to our new ward, and also LOVE it! It is so nice to be in a ward that you feel like you fit in. there are tons of young couples, and young families with a few older couples. Its a way nice church building and the ward activities seem pretty fun. The guys in the ward play basketball every tuesday, just to play. Jason is really excited for that.

Coupons! we started couponing this week. We figure, if the newspaper is going to GIVE you free money, why not take it? So we ordered the sunday paper, cut all the coupons we thought we might use and it was off to the store with us! We saved...get ready.... 43$!!! not bad for our first time eh? I am not going to go all crazy about it cause we don't really need to, but I will gladly spend 5 mins every sunday and cut things out if someone is going to just hand me 43$.

Trips! Jason and I have several vacation/trips we are way too excited about. lets see what is first. I think first will be a trip to Texas with our friends BenAsh, I am not sure how long we are going for, but we are going because Jason and Ben served their missions there. I know Jason is really excited about that trip. The next one is a mystery trip for me. For our anniversary Jason is planning a getaway trip and he isn't telling me where we are going! He is packing my bags for me, buying the plane tickets and not telling me a single thing. We are going for 4 days so I am excited for that one. Next summer/fall we are planning on, get ready for this, backpacking through Europe! so not like the hitchhiking kind, the live-out-of-a-bag-and-sleep-in-hostiles type. We are planning on going for 3 weeks! We are going to London, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Italy, Rome, Germany and maybe Russia! WE are so excited for this one! I can't wait! We are working on getting our passports and I am so excited to fill it will stamps! Can you imagine how many pictures I will take? Also in August we are going to Jason's family's yearly camping trip. yaaaaay....For those of you who don't know, I don't like camping. So Jason said I can stay home for half of it and going shopping. That's right, that is what he said.

Work. I got a promotion and a raise at work. yay! I have only been at my job 6 months and this is my second promotion with another promised in 6 months. I went from a CSR to Accounts Receivable to Work Flow Coordinator and in 6 months it will be Project Manager. Its been fun and I have enjoyed my time with this company, although it isn't where I want to be long term, for now its been great! I am going to study for my personal trainer certification starting in august, and then hopefully will be certified by October. I of course, am excited for that.

It seems as though everyone around me is having a baby, ugh. Our plans for having a baby are about 1-2 years out, which is fine with me. I want to have plenty of time for myself and Jason before our lives become all about a baby. So for now, Jason and I are living our life exactly how we want, going where we want and doing what we want, and loving it. We went to the Logan temple this weekend and it was great! We went to the SLC temple 2 weeks ago, I don't know if I blogged about that or not but let me just say, I am not patient enough to move 50 ninety year old people to 4 different rooms and then wait for them to fold out chairs for the other 20 that they crammed in there. Sorry. It was a great one time experience but I will not being using that temple regularly. I don't have patient for it. I did love the Logan temple we only had to move once lol. I think my favorite is Ogden, or Jordan. Haven't been to draper yet, thats next on my list!! oh and when we go to europe, you can bet we will be going to all the temples we can over there!

Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment that I am half and half looking forward to. I am looking forward to a day off work, but not the dental work. The dentist is going to sedate me, since I am so difficult with dentists. I don't know what it is, I just don't like other peoples fingers in my mouth let alone the various tools they use. wish me luck for that!

Until next monday!!!

my hair

I am trying to grow out my hair. I have never really had long hair before, the longest I think I ever got it was to my chest. ALL of my sisters have really long hair so I know its in my genes, I just need to be patient.

Any advice?

how often should I trim my ends?

what kind of product should I use?

HELP.

Here is what my hair is at now, I think the longest I ever got it was about 5 inches longer than that, and I am pretty sure it took me all of high school to do. My problem is I get bored, and impatient. I get bored with my hair and don't want to take the time to do it, so I cut it, or I get too hot in the summer so I cut it also. This summer I have been doing lots of ponytails so I don't feel the urge to cut it.

Here is last year April 9th. I got bored and cut it. Totally regret it, Jami didn't do it either cause she would have for sure talked me out of it. I am pretty sure since this picture I may have cut it a little bit, once, but besides that, that is how fast my hair doesn't grow.

Here is what I want to achieve. I am not sure if I want my bangs as short as this, but its possible.

I have always loved Sophia's hair but I am worried my hair isn't thick enough.
This is the combo I think of the two from above, that is a good length for my bangs and layering. now I just have to wait for it to grow.
I want to say my hair doesn't grow very well anymore because of how many times I have colored it, but I haven't colored it much lately. I think in the last year I have done my set of highlights 4 times, and the last time I went I had her do my natural hair color so I can stop coloring it. I only straighten it every other day, and I blow dry it mostly with cold air.

My hair person is out of the state for the summer. :-( which means I have all summer to grow it, and see what I want to do with it when she gets back. Although if I need it trimmed I am going to have to trust someone else besides her to do it :-(. Jami has been doing my hair for over 3 years now, I am not sure I could venture away. Any advice?

the strike is over

Ok I am ending my strike for 2 reasons.

1. you guys are right, its also like my journal so I really should keep going. press forward. ;-)

2. because I am all too excited about my newest purchase.

This Beauty!

Which I am WAAAYY excited for. Our new apartment has really nice patios, we are not allowed to have grills on them so basically ours goes to absolute waste. Not anymore!! I found this set on KSL today for 35$. that is right, 35$. I have been telling Jason since we moved here I wanted a small table and chair set for our patio so we can eat our dinners outside and enjoy the fresh air.

This is my 8 month anniversary present to myself, lol tee hee hee.

Other then that, Jason and I are so great! we love our little married life, and we enjoy each others company. He is the salt to my pepper, the cheese to my macaroni and the remote to my Tivo. I seriously can not believe how utterly happy he makes me and how much we love every minute together. I look forward to many many more happy months and years as we grow old together. :-) he makes me twitterpatted.

I really hope everyone else is as happy in their marriage as we are, in ours.

I quit

This blog.

I quit this blog.

I am going to be honest, due to lack of attention, and lack of much excitement, I am quitting blogging for a while.

No one talks to me anymore like it used to be and I don't like it.

So I quit.

My birthday was great. I loved it. everything I got was so awesome. I worked in the day, after work ended my husband and I went to the outback steakhouse! Oh it is so so so good. We were celebrating my birthday and my promotion/raise! So it was a pretty good day. Then we went to my moms house where she made a home made red velvet cake.mmmmm. I need to go back and get the rest of the cake! My dad served in Iraq last year and while he was there he got me a really cool camel skin scrapbook with handmade paper, and he gave it to me for my birthday, and I love it! My lovely husband got me 2 pairs of pants that actually fit! I have been wearing my fat pants forever and now I have some that are actually my size. Some brown one, like the picture, and some jeans. He also got me a pretty sweet new wallet, its a hippie one and I love it! Our friend Derek, gave me this magnet board! lol why you ask? I have been wanting to do this craft for a while, but I have done a lot of crafts lately so I haven't been able to do it, so Derek bought me ALL the supplies I needed to do it! Ladies, he is single. My mother-in-law was pretty pickled for this last week about what to get me, as i am always pickled about what to get her! SO she asked Jason who asked me what I wanted and I wrote a list!! not just any old birthday wish list, a life wish list of movies I want to own before we have kids! bahaha! there are just certain movies in my childhood that shaped who I am, and promote good role models and stories that I want my kids to grow up with also. I don't want my kids to be so futuristic with their movies that a good" moral of the story" movie isn't just as good to them. So I created a list and I intend to have all of these movies purchased before Jason and I have kids. It all started with Willy Wonka! so she got me..
I am way excited to watch Hercules, I think I will watch it, tonight!
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming....AH!!!

I am SOOOOO excited for this movie!!! I have not seen this movie in at Least 10 years! I can remember watching it all the time! I don't know what it is, but lately I am so enthralled with watching these older, childish movies! It has been a while seen a good decent movie has been created, with the exception of UP!, so if there are not any good new one, why the heck not watch good old ones? I am way freaking excited.

My birthday was great! I am now 22 with a 24 year old husband. We love our life, our family and our friends.

Side note- I went to the dentist today, and it was awful. I HATE the dentist with an unforgiving passion. I went to a new one, one that my mother in laws sister used to work at. It sucked. Bad. the only good thing there was the TV in front of me. He hurt my teeth and used a COTTON BALL!!! for those of you who don't know, I hate cotton balls. They freak me out. Anyway, I guess he could tell I was a little uneasy because at the end he told me I should go to a sedation dentist. It was only a cleaning!! I am nervous. I am also very embarrassed to admit, that because I hate the dentist so much, I have not gone in 2 1/2 years. Needless to say, I have 4 cavities. I am sad.

2nd side note- I am going to the Salt Lake temple to do a session for the first time!! yay! I have been through Ogden, bountiful and Jordan river, but never SLC and I am so stoked. I think it will be a little weird to see an 80 year old lady play Eve, but oh well! I have heard everyone should go at least once, so I am! Afterwards we are going to....drumroll....COSTA VIDA!!!! which I also LOVE! sweet pork burrito here I come. I simply can not wait. I am getting my own burrito this time. lol. Normally Jason and I share meals since we don't eat much, but today, no. I want my own.

3rd side note- My sorta craft right now is a plant, wheatgrass. I planted wheatgrass in a container and I want to grow it as a house plant. Problem, the rain. My plant needs sunshine!! other then the fact that my plant may die, I love the rain. I love sitting at home with my husband in our nice warm cozy couch with a blanket and listening to the rain. Its lovely! I also don't like to drive in it, but I will sacrifice that to be able to enjoy the rain at home. It is going to rain for 10 more days!!! YAY!!!

2 random facts about me. 1, I use everyone else doormats to wipe my feet as I walk down our hall. 2, I can always tell when I am late for work in the morning if the bum on 4th south is still waiting for the bus. :-)

Thats all folks!!

sadness and joy

I must post about this. This weekend my heart broke. I sat in my seat, next to my husband just wanted to start crying uncontrollably. To be so blissfully happy and then to have it ripped away, seemingly twice, is cruel. I wanted to reach out and hug them, and tell him everything would be alright. It amazes me that such a beautiful story can come from such a sad line of events. To see 2 different people become such an influence and strength in each others life, is something rarely seen these and its just plain inspiring. I fell in love with the relationship of these 2, and their relationship with others. It moved me to the very core of my existence. I will always remember them, and my children will know of them. My life will never be the same for having known of them and their individual stories of joy, sadness and triumph. We can all learn a thing or two from the life and actions of these 2 people. I hope you will all go and take part in this absolutely magnificent epic movie, know as UP! It truly is inspiring and one of a kind.

wal mart and my wonderful husband!!!

Let me tell you about my day. My day started today by having the weird urge and craving to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I know, like I said, weird. My day went on as normal form there til I got off work. Jason had told me he was going to stay at work later then expected and that I should go grocery shopping on my own, which I was fine with. I went to the Wal Mart on 13th and isle by isle loaded my cart with plentiful goodies to stock my enormously bare kitchen. I get the front ready to check out and it comes that dreadful time of picking a lane to stand in. I scower the isles and determine that they all pretty much SUCK and I just need to pick one, so I did. I am standing in this line and I look up at the front, the chick checking out has at least 50 containers of baby formula with a check laying on top of each of them, she was clearly paying with Welfare checks. Garsh. I realize this was probably the worst line to stand in but I have already made the commitment. So I stay, grab a tabloid magazine and start reading about Obama being gay with Michael Jackson. I read an entire article, look up to check the progress of the line and see that the cashier has turned on his help light, GRR. Stupid welfare. I go back to reading my magazine and 5 mins later check the status of the line again, IT HASN"T MOVED! The guys help light is still blinking and we are all just standing there. At this point I have been in the line 10 mins, I know because Jason called me when I got to the line so I was referencing the time my phone said he called. I grab a different magazine and read all about John and Kates 10 million dollar divorce. 5 more mins go by and I check the status, It has not changed, at all. It was at that point, you know the one, where you are debating about whether or not to leave the line and pick a new one but you know as soon as you leave the line will start moving? Now for those of you who don't know this, I used to work at the potrait studio in this wal mart and I actually dated the Loss Prevention Manager at the wal mart, big tongan guy. ANWAY, right as I am getting the point of a meltdown when I see HIM! walking right by registers, I give him this nasty"fix this line or I will be pissed" look. He immediately gets on his walkie and tells a supervisor to go to my line and get it moving. :-) I knew my random unstoppable dating would come in handy one day, and today was that day! We made small talk for a minute about how ridiculously long the line was I stood in and then he made a comment about me being skinny. Now for those of you who are wondering, The total amount of time I stood in that line was 27 minuntes. yep thats right. 4 magazine articles down, 27 minutes later and I finally check out. it was pretty miserable. Had I not dated one of the managers there, who knows how long I would have been there. Jason just laughed.

So I get home, put all the groceries away and settle down with a frozen pizza and my delicious husband! I seriously love my husband. So I mentioned to him earlier that I wanted to go rent willy wonka and watch it tonight cause I was craving it. We were sitting there watching TV and he looked up on the guide when willy wonka was going to be on TV, not till sunday! He said we would Tivo it and watch it sunday. :-( I begrudgingly said ok. He and Derek wanted to go to Smiths and get chips and I didn't so I stayed here. I missed him while he was gone. when he came home he had bought me my favorite chocolate bar!!! I love Dove chocolate and I was excited. Guess what else he bought me?! WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY!!!!
EVeryone say it with me, AAAWWWWWW CUUUUUUTE!!!! Pretty much I don't care how awesome you think your husband is, mine is better. :-) Mine does the cutest things for me and not just on Valentines or Birthdays, all the time! Seriously, don't try to agrue, cause I will never agree, I have the best husband.

Drastic change and secret blessings

Sometimes things happen in your life that are blessings in disguise, and I like to call these secret blessings. After Jason and I were married, I was looking for a job in SLC and felt strongly impressed to accept a job offer at Orange Legal Technologies. My job was to communicate with lawyers and paralegals from over 100 law firms in SLC. I looked at this job as a HUGE blessing. and it was, just not for the reasons I thought. I was going to be able to build a network of contacts in the legal field so when I finished school to be a paralegal, I would easily be able to find a job. I have done well as this company, have been promoted and looked at as a problem solving employee by the managing attorney, and the owner himself. This job has been a blessing, it has opened my eyes to the fact that I DO NOT want to work in the legal field. I work with over a 100 law firms, all of which are high stress environments, long hours, boring tedious protocols and little satisfaction. I love law, I love that it can help people, but lets face it, unless you are working for the attorney general and prosecuting sex offenders, its not that great. I love my job, and I am so grateful for it. I am grateful that I was able to realize I wouldn't like that career, before actually getting into it. Not many people get that chance, and I know a lot who wish they would've. I am grateful for secret blessings from my savior.
What am I going to do now you ask? I still want to go to school, as late as it may be and as old as I may be, its important to me. So if I am not going into law, what do I want to do?? simple. I want to get my degree to be a Fitness Technician, or in other words, a personal trainer. I can also get a certification in yoga and be able to teach yoga and pilates classes. Fitness and health are things I am very passionate about and things that will never bore me. Having been overweight, and feeling low about myself, I feel I would be able to relate to people better than someone who hasn't been overweight and doesn't know what they are feeling. I am excited about this new path I have decided to take and if you would have asked me when I was a junior in high school if I could ever see myself as a personal trainer I would have laughed in your face, and then cried. I have lost 30 lbs and there is nothing like experience to teach you about being healthy. I am excited to start this new journey and who knows, things may change, but for now, this is my start.

Life with the powells is good and busy! Jason and I have been running around like chickens for a while and I need a chance to breathe! we spent the weekend in Cedar city which was awesome! Our good friends Ben and Ashley live there and we spent the weekend doing fun random things. I got to see my great friend Whitney! who I have not seen since high school! We gathered at Maggie Moos ice cream, I had a delicious smoothie. Interesting fact, Whitney and I went to high school together in at Layton High and graduated 2005. We then BOTH married guys who both graduated from Murray High in the same year! weird I know. So it was fun to see them, they are moving up here so hopefully we will see more of them! Later that night Benash(Ben and Ashley) and us went star gazing and it was nice to be able to actually see the stars. The next day was a day I will NEVER forget. We ventured out to Zions Caynon where I did my very very firstest hike ever. monumential moment in my life to say the least. We did Angels Landing which is a 5 mile hike. It was an accomplishment for me to say the least. If you know me, you know that I am not much of a nature person, but if you know my husband you know that he is a nature person, so it makes for intersting outings. He did the hike thinking how beautiful and lovely the scenery was, while I was looking at the hike as a physical exercise type activity. I couldn't care less about nature. lol. The mountain in the background is as tall as the one I climb. :-)
As for the rest of our life, we returned to SLC, to work and the various other activities that occupy our time and thoughts. It was Jasons birthday this week, he turned 24! I got him a few shirts and some rather expensive shoes, which he will return and get the ones he really wanted lol. We went out to dinner with his parents and Justin and Brittnie that night to Texas Roadhouse, which I still think is overrated. Also on his birthday we made a new addition to our little family! we bought a 2007 Honda Accord for me and I love it!!! Her name is Lola. the picture isnt our exact car, but it is EXACTLY what it looks like. We got an Incredible deal on this car because the owners are adopting their 3rd kid and needed to sell it fast. we paid for this 2007 what people are paying at dealerships for 2003 Civics. It was sort of an impulse buy, but we were planning on buying a new car for me anyway. I love it! We are having it detailed on saturday while Jason and I clean our apartment cause....WE'RE MOVING!! We got out of our lease and are moving to a much nicer apartment complex which we also got a good deal on. the apartment we are normally in rents for 910$ and we are paying 710$. It is in the heart of sugarhouse which is 5 miles to both of our works. Because we are moving closer to work we are saving 45$ on our insurance! YAY! I am not excited about the actual moving part, but I am excited to be out of this complex and into a MUCH nicer one.
So thats our little update. hope everyone is having a great spring/summer so far! YAY for warm weather!

My watch!

So this weekend Jason and I ventured down to Cedar City to hang out with some friends. While we were there I did a craft project! yay!! I wanted to buy some of those interchangable watch bead bands, but then my husband reminded me that I could probably make them myself! and I did! Went to the store, got the supplies and got busy on it this morning. It was a little tedious but it was quick! I got a box of probably 200 brown cream and tan beads, my watch face(which was the most exspensive part at 10.95), the claws and the string thing. I found the instructions online and they were really easy. I love my watch! I will post more about our trip later but for now I was pretty excited about my watch!

My name is Kati and I am a scaredaholic.

Alright for me, this post is huge. I have never admitted this to anyone except my husband before but now I think it is time. I am terrified of pretty much everything. You give me a life situation and I will tell you what scares me about it.

Driving to the store- I am scared of getting in an accident or hitting a pedestrian. driving to my moms- I am scared of going under the overpasses on the freeway cause I think they will buckle. Going to the bathroom- I am scared a snake or spider will come up from the toilet(dumb, I know). After my husband leaves for work- I am scared someone will break into the apartment. coming home from work- I am scared someone has already broken in and is waiting in the apartment. Going camping- I am afraid of a bear eating me at night. going 4-wheeling- I am afraid of it tipping over and killing me. going tubing- I am afraid of losing control and drowning( I am also afraid of drowning in general). going anywhere- I am afraid of someone trying to steal my purse. Horses- I am scared they will realize they can step on me and they will. having kids- I am scared my baby won't be healthy and it will have something wrong with it and as awful as it sounds, I don't know if I could handle that. Also with kids- I am scared of my baby dying from SIDS, also I am scared I will miscarry and never get over it. Buying a house- I am scared both of us with lose our jobs. Going across train tracks- I am scared our car will get stuck on the tracks and a train will kill us. Elevators- I am scared the wires will rust and break plummeting myself to my death. And these aren't just in-the-back-of-my-mind fears, these are constantly-on-my-mind-aware-leary of fears.

There are so many more, these are just the main ones. I know that everyone has their worries and concerns in life, but mine are down right paralyzing fears. It has gotten to the point that I can't sleep at night, or that I have to take sleep aids to be able to sleep. On tuesday there was a home invasion at my apartment complex and it made things so much worse. I was scared to come home, I was sweating and nervous in the car on my way home because I did not want to be alone at my apartment. Because of the recent events Jason and I are doing EVERYTHING we can to get out of our lease and be able to move. I know moving will help, but it will not take away my fears.

So I have decided to go to therapy
.

There were a lot of things that happened to me in my childhood that I thought I had worked through, but I can't help but think they have something to do with my fears today.

So today is the day. I have my first appointment today after work, I am really nervous and could use some support. I don't quite remember when I started to be so scared, I want to say it was around when I was 20. I used to LOVE everything about life. I used to enjoy camping and people, and now I dread those things. I want to enjoy life again like I once did. I want to be able to go camping and not thank god every morning that a bear didn't eat me(seriously, I do that). So I hope today is the first step towards change. A better way, a better life.

It upsets me that going to therapy is looked down upon in this society, or looked at as a weakness. There is no shame in trying to better and improve your life. I am not ashamed or even scared to tell you that I am going to therapy. I would love and appreciate your support, but I do not need it.

WISH ME LUCK!

update: WE GOT OUT OF OUR LEASE!!!!

The sweet life of Kati and Jason

I find myself updating this blog every monday, either because I am bored at work on a monday, or we had an eventful weekend, either way, its updated! Everything in the Powell residence is going quite smoothly, no major catastrophes yet. But....
Jason and I have decided to consider moving to...TEXAS!!! Buying a house here in Utah just isnt working out, and it seems in the back of our minds(or the spirits promptings) that we aren't supposed to buy here. Jason absolutely loves texas, he served his mission there and has always wanted to go back to visit so we thought, why not go back to stay?! The housing market is so terrible there, a house here in utah that would cost 500K, in texas is under 200K. We could move there, buy a way nice house, live comfortably and I wouldn't have to work at all. I probably would cause I would get bored though! I would love to live outside Utah before our family gets older. I think when our oldest kid turns 6 it would be time to move back to Utah to settle down. But for now, an adventure it is for us!! We haven't made a decision yet, it largely depends on if he can get transferred. I will of course update you when new information becomes available!
Jason and I are planning 2 trips this year, hopefully, and we are very excited! Our friends Ben and Ashley live in Cedar city so we don't see them much, we see all of our other friends a bunch, so I was feeling like we need to make a visit to Cedar! so Ashley and I concocted a plan to go to VEGAS! It will be really fun, I am excited to ride the New York New York roller coaster again. Its also Ashley's birthday so I am making something special for her ;-) Then we are kind of planning a trip to Texas this fall to visit Jason's mission! We are going with Ben and Ashley( Jason and Ben were mission companions in the MTC) and are staying for a week. Jason used to talk about his mission all the time so it will be nice to put faces to the names. that is right around the time we are wanting to buy a house so it might not happen in the fall for us but we will see!
Other than that all is well and normal in our lives. Jason is working 7-7 these days while I am still 830-5 so I am all alone when I get home but it leaves me workout time and I know Jason loves his career so for now it works for us. The weather is going to 76 this saturday so you know what that means for us right? GOLF! We are planning on going golfing with my family and then going back to their house for sloppy joes! Oh I could not be more excited. Jason has gone golfing a lot and I haven't gone in almost a month! ah! wish me luck and have a great week!!
